Philadelphia’s Ward 55 is home to approximately 12,900 registered voters. About 60% of the voters are registered Democrats, 23% or so are registered Republicans, and the remaining 17% are registered with some other party (or no party at all. The ward is located in the Mayfair, Tacony, and Wissinoming sections of the city.
Ward 55 has 29 divisions — areas where people vote. According to Democratic Party bylaws, each division may have up to two Democratic Committee members, for a total of 58 committee spots. As of this writing, the ward has 47 elected and appointed committee people.
