Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)

I am very grateful that the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) was put on my radar by one of my committee people.  In a nutshell, companies can give money for educational scholarships, and can get tax credits as a result.  Scholarships benefit children with disabilities.

To qualify for a scholarship, a family’s household’s annual income must be no greater than $116,055 plus $20,428 for each dependent member of the household.  Scholarships may be used from kindergarten through high school.

A business that contributes to the program can get tax credits equal to 75 percent of its contribution up to a maximum of $750,000 per taxable year.  This can be increased to 90 percent of the contribution, if business agrees to provide same amount for two consecutive tax years.

There are more details, of course, and you can find out more here.
